Nahdlatul Ulama University of Surabaya

 

            Nahdlatul Ulama University of Surabaya (Unusa) is a higher education institution under the shelter of Yayasan Rumah Sakit Islam Surabaya (Yarsis). It was designated as a university in 2013, on July 2, 2018, with SK Mendikbud No: 265/E/O/2013.

 

            Unusa is a college transformation from Stikes RSI (established in 2006). The trail of journey is quite long and has been recorded since 1979. Starting from SPK (School of Health Nurses) of RS Islam Surabaya, and successively becamea Nursing Academy (Akper) in 1985 and a Midwifery Academy (Akbid) in 1997.

 

           Yarsis was founded in 1971 by the elders of NU and Muslimat of Surabaya Branch. Currently, the composition of the Board of Trustees consists of the leadership of PBNU, PWNU of East Java and PCNU Surabaya, while the Supervisory Board of the leadership of PCNU Surabaya, PC Muslimat Surabaya. The board includes elements of academics, health practitioners and law.

 

            Unusa has 6 faculties and 17 study programs. Almost all of the study programs accredited by BAN PT (National Accreditation Board of Universities) and LAM PTKes (Indepent Accreditation Institution for Higher Education of Health) with B grade, similar with institution accreditation (earned B grade).

Rank and Number of Students

 

            Unusa's position among 3244 state and private universities throughout Indonesia, in 2016, it ranked 2805 (cluster 4), in 2017, it was at 359 (cluster 3), in 2018,it ranked 201. Currently, Unusa Student has 3,500 students in Bachelor and Vocational

 

            Every year Unusa accepts new students in the range of 1,200 to 1,300 new students. In addition to the scholarships from the foundation, Unusa has also received the trust of receiving Bidikmisi scholarship programs from ministries since 2013. While in cooperation with SEAMEO-SEAMOLEC (Educational Organization at ASEAN country level) since 2014, Unusa has received scholarships for foreign studs. Now, there are 11 foreign students from the Philippines. In addition to the foundation scholarships, Unusa also receives scholarships from body has 3,500 students Bachelor and Vocational

 

Learning process

​

            Learning  activities  at  Unusa  are  supported  by  two  campuses,  campus  A at SMEA Street No. 57 and campus B at Jemursari Street 51-57 Surabaya. Since 2016, learning at Unusa has used hybrid system. By utilizing the advantages of information and communication technology, the infra-  structure to support the needs of communication networks becomes a mandatory requirement in every classroom, including a tutorial room.  This is supported by the existence of complete laboratory facilities, computing room, learningstudio, OCSE 

room, and smart classroom with reliable information technology support. To support the effort of creating generation of Rahmatan lil'Alamin, each floor of nine floors in campus B, equipped with mushollah (prayer room). There is also a Syar'i Bathroom, specially prepared for women who have completed menstrual period every month.

             In their way to become university at 2018 Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya was selected as most fast growing new private university from Lembaga Layanan Pendidikan Tinggi LLDIKTI (instušons of higher educaon services) region of VII east java. While in rank of campus base on unirank for the most popular web sites, Unusa are in order to 201 all over Indonesia or 15th runner up on east java
